Debra Carpenter

CIO at TriState Health

As the only not-for-profit, community owned and operated hospital in the Lewis Clark Valley, we take special pride in making sure your health is our first priority! Over sixty years ago, a group of dedicated community members set out to build a new, larger hospital that could serve the community and surrounding areas for years to come.

Today, the Board of Directors, administration, staff, and providers at TriState Health continue that legacy by serving a 10-county region in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. We are a not-for-profit, community-owned hospital (since 1955), offering acute care as well as a DNV GL Healthcare USA accredited critical access facility. We are committed to providing the high-tech medical treatment you expect with the tender touch and personal attention you deserve.

A career marked by strategic leadership and resilience, Debra’s influence extends beyond systems and solutions, shaping the broader narrative of community health and patient care.

Beginning her career as a computer programmer at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Debra’s trajectory highlights her strategic approach to growth. Rising through roles such as Oracle database administrator and data architect, she embraced opportunities to deepen her technical expertise and broaden her understanding of healthcare. Debra’s pursuit of advanced education, including a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Leadership, reflected her determination to align personal growth with professional impact.

Challenges have punctuated Debra’s journey, yet her resilience has been unwavering. In 2019, a breast cancer diagnosis and the subsequent loss of her job during medical leave would have been insurmountable obstacles for many. However, Debra embraced these challenges as opportunities for growth. Her role with Crowe Healthcare Risk Consulting allowed her to contribute remotely while recovering, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment. In 2022, the chance to become CIO at TriState Health marked a pivotal moment, enabling Debra to bring her vision for transformative healthcare IT into full focus.
