Dax Grant’s rise from modest beginnings in Bosnia to becoming a groundbreaking leader in the global business world exemplifies resilience, mentorship, and purpose-driven leadership. Her journey has been one of overcoming adversity and breaking barriers, ultimately shaping the future of organizational leadership. Today, Dax is an award-winning CEO, COO, CIO, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, known for her strategic insights and unwavering commitment to creating positive societal impact. As a member of the Forbes Technology Council and the leader of Global Transform, she continues to influence leadership practices with a focus on organizational growth, societal good, and employee advocacy.
Growing up in a modest family environment in Bosnia, Dax’s early years were marked by hard work and resilience. Her father was a coal miner, and her mother worked as a shepherdess, enduring the hardships of a challenging life. Despite these challenges, Dax’s parents instilled in her a strong work ethic and a relentless thirst for knowledge. “What I inherited from my parents was a strong work ethic and an unwavering drive to learn,” Dax reflects. These values, alongside a deep inner conviction, laid the foundation for her eventual success.
Her academic journey began with a natural aptitude for learning, but it was during her A-levels that she truly found her calling. Dax’s economics teacher, a former RAF pilot and Cambridge alumnus, became a pivotal figure in her life. Encouraged by him to apply to Cambridge University, she embarked on rigorous preparations for the entrance interview, despite being unfamiliar with the institution. Her hard work paid off, and she became one of only two students from her local state school to attend Cambridge, marking a transformative milestone in her life.
Throughout her career, Dax has been shaped by several key mentors, such as Tom Blomfield, former CEO of Monzo; Dan Schulman, CEO of PayPal; and Sir Terry Leahy, former CEO of Tesco. Their guidance and wisdom have enriched her leadership approach, helping her navigate the complexities of today’s business world. A defining moment in her career came when Antony Jenkins, former CEO of Barclays, personally sponsored her MBA dissertation. At the time, Dax was balancing a new leadership role with the challenges of motherhood. This experience reinforced her belief in the value of mentorship and the importance of embracing both professional and personal growth.
Dax’s commitment to making a meaningful impact on society led her to accept a position as Director of Operations at Macmillan Cancer Support, which aligned with her desire to help others. This decision was prompted by a simple yet profound question from her young son: “How can we help the helpless people in our community?” Today, as CEO of Global Transform, Dax continues to integrate these experiences into her leadership style, focusing on empowering others and making a positive societal impact.
Under her leadership, Global Transform has earned a reputation for driving exceptional business performance while maintaining a strong sense of social responsibility. The company works closely with CEOs and executives to navigate organizational challenges, offering innovative solutions that promote sustainable change. Dax emphasizes the importance of aligning business strategies with a broader purpose, one that benefits not only the organization but also its employees and society at large
Dax is a passionate advocate for authentic leadership, which she defines as leading through genuine connections, empathy, and involvement. She believes that leadership is not just about position or power but about empowering others and fostering trust. This philosophy has allowed her to build high-performing teams in both global corporations and national non-profit organizations. For Dax, leadership is about getting involved rather than merely “leaning in,” and she strives to create environments where trust and collaboration thrive.
Her approach to leadership is complemented by her belief that challenges present opportunities for growth and transformation. In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world, Dax thrives on navigating complex situations and offering valuable insights. She attributes her success to the support of her team and mentors, remaining deeply committed to serving others through her leadership. “I carry the responsibility of legacy for all those who support me daily,” she says, emphasizing her gratitude for those who have helped her along the way.
Balancing her professional and personal life, Dax approaches each day with purpose. Her morning routine includes exercise, meditation, and a healthy breakfast before diving into her professional responsibilities. Despite the demands of leading a global organization, Dax prioritizes her family and personal well-being. She finds joy in the small moments, like homeschooling her son during the pandemic while managing global responsibilities. For Dax, living a well-rounded life is about aligning personal and professional aspirations, and she remains committed to achieving both.
Dax Grant’s story is an inspiring example of how resilience, mentorship, and a clear sense of purpose can elevate someone from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of leadership. As she continues to break new ground, Dax remains focused on making a lasting impact and inspiring others to lead with authenticity, vision, and purpose.
